Exercises To Get Your Body In Shape For Summer

Hi Hi! Is anyone else amazed it’s June already? WHERE in the world is the time going? Is everyone ready for cabin trips, outside time, and summer gatherings? I could not be more excited for this summer to kick off so I’ve put together a little post on some variations on how to get in summer shape.

Summer is just weeks away, and if you’re eager to shape up, now is the time to get healthy and up your exercise intensity. If you’re looking for ideas or you’d like to try some new fitness activities, here are some fun suggestions to switch things up and see results.

Dance classes

If you’re not a fan of the gym, but you love to keep fit in fun ways, and you have bags of energy, why not sign up for dance classes? I know it can sound scary, but can be SO much fun and a killer workout. You can choose from all kinds of different dance classes available in your area like Zumba or Latin dancing. You’ll meet new people, learn new skills and enjoy an intensive whole-body workout.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT)

My favorite type of workout as you may have picked up by now 🙂 If you’re trying to tone up in time for a vacation or a wedding, HIIT is the way to go. This form of training intertwines short periods of intense exercise with breaks. The aim is to increase your heart rate rapidly and then bring it back down. This type of workout increases your fitness levels quickly, and it can really help you to burn fat and tone up. It’s also great for those that don’t have much time to exercise during the day, as classes are short.


Pilates is a form of exercise, which aims to strengthen your muscles and improve your posture. It can also help to release tension and reduce stress. During a Pilates session, you’ll do a series of stretches and specific exercises focusing on your breathing. If you’re eager to try something a little different find a local Pilates class in your area, why not book a class in STOTT Pilates? This form of Pilates is slightly different because it encourages you to keep the spine in a natural position. Traditional Pilates favors a straight spine. If you’re fortunate enough to live by the sea or a park, it may be worth investigating outdoor Pilates sessions.



When the sun comes out, it’s common to see more people out jogging. Going for a run is an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors and burn excess energy at the end of a busy day. Switch up your routes and include some sprints to vary your workouts.


Kickboxing is a high-energy combat sport, which burns a large number of calories in a short amount of time. It provides an intense cardiovascular workout. But it’s also fantastic for toning and building muscle mass. Some gyms and sports centres offer kickboxing classes. Alternatively, you can search for a local boxing club, which offers tuition.

Boot camp fitness

Who else has been to a boot camp and gotten your butt kicked?! I have! Boot camps are enjoying a moment in the spotlight. More and more people are joining cross fit like fitness classes or signing up for intense workout classes. The aim of boot camp is to push your physical fitness to the limits and increase your strength and stamina. Often, a session will push you beyond your comfort zone and show you just how much you can achieve when you put your mind to it.

Most of us like to make more of an effort to get fit when summer is approaching. If you’re looking for ideas for new workouts or you’d like to increase the amount of exercise you do, why not try these activities? Go for something, which pushes you, but that you also find enjoyable.
